OK. So what is Decision Support?
Here’s how Wikipedia defines it:
A Decision Support System (DSS) is a computer-based information system that supports business or organizational decision-making activities. DSSs serve the management, operations, and planning levels of an organization (usually mid and higher management) and help to make decisions, which may be rapidly changing and not easily specified in advance (Unstructured and Semi-Structured decision problems). Decision support systems can be either fully computerized, human or a combination of both.
That’s a mouth full, right? It’s all about information. The right info delivered at the right time to the right people in your church.
Information is an asset. Really.
It’s all about a Process. Because systems = process.
Where there is no process the vision perishes.
Think about it. Process carries Vision.
Fundamentally, the process takes detailed data, summarizes it so it can be analyzed and translated into meaningful reports and analysis church leaders need to make right decisions.
Beneath this Decision Support process lay control processes that guard trust and integrity we as a church must have…even more so than the world.
